6 ways to instantly makeover your living room

Want to decorate but don't have the time or money? With a few simple changes that don't cost a fortune you can transform your living area into a whole new room.

1. Update your cushions and throws

By updating your cushions and throws you will immediately change the look of your lounge. These accents are often the first things people notice when they enter a space, and they have the power to infuse your look with more color, style, and personality.

2. Add some greenery

A lot of people overlook the ability of plants to make a stylish impact, but greenery never fails to add life to a space. Small trees make a blank corner instantly chic, while potted indoor varieties update surfaces like side tables and consoles and will bring your room to life.

3. Rearrange your furniture

A simple and effective way to jazz up your living area is to change it around. I love moving furniture to change the look of a space or room. While some rooms only work with furniture organised in one specific way, many can handle a radically different arrangement.

4. Add some wall art

There’s a lot that can be done with wall art, from rearranging existing pieces to creating new ones. What’s on the walls has a big impact. If you don’t currently have anything try framing wallpaper or fabric samples, or frame pages from old books. Create a photo wall of your favourite family photos. The idea that artwork has to be expensive is a myth, so try making your own.

5. Upcycling some furniture

Perhaps you have an old chair that is a bit worn, or a sideboard that looks dull. Instead of spending fortunes on new furniture, upcycle what you already have. Painting, spray paint,& upholstery are just a few ways to bring your old pieces back to life. Be sure to look out for second hand items too - one man's junk is another man's treasure!

6. Add Mirrors

Mirrors are great for enhancing any living space. A well placed mirror can help give the appearance of more space. It reflects the room, making you think that a room is larger than it actually is. A small, narrow room can benefit from hanging a wall mirror, or you can even place a large mirror to make the room look spacious. A large mirror can be a beautiful accent piece.
